Frequently Asked Questions.
How do you ensure you always have the highest quality vehicles?
Our process is two fold. First, Miguel and his Newera Team personally inspect each vehicle destined for Canada. You can learn more about Newera below.
The second aspect is that all of our vehicles are sold with a mechanical fitness report that is provided by a neutral third party. This ensures that the customer is fully aware of the quality before they take ownership of the car. Look through our sold section and you will see that we bring over nothing but the best!
Alberta customers also have the out of province inspection included in the price of all stock vehicles! We are so confident in the quality that we bring over, we will pay for any repairs that are needed to make the vehicle Alberta out of province compliant!Who is Newera Imports?
Racebred Performance is the Canadian Regional office for Newera Imports. Newera has been importing the very best quality vehicles into the United Kingdom since 1998 and now their superior hand picked quality will be coming to Canada.
Miguel oversees the Newera operation and is based out of Tokyo, Japan. Miguel has a rich history in automotives, including a mechanical engineering degree from Sussex, restoring Ferraris and other exotics, as well as over 7 years of driving almost every Japanese sports car to fully understand the dynamics of each one. Every car sourced and brought into Canada is personally inspected in Japan by Miguel and these skills help in spotting the difference between a car with hidden flaws and an excellent quality car.
Over the past 7 years, Newera has gained the reputation of importing the very best quality vehicles. Racebred Performance and Newera will never import an accident vehicle and only offer the very best quality at an affordable price. We import cars that we would be proud to drive.
Having the car sourced and inspected in Japan by a trusted, reliable source allows the customer to feel secure about purchasing their vehicle.

How can you source a car?
Currently there are three ways to source a vehicle through Racebred:
Edmonton Stock: All of these vehicles are located in Edmonton and have the Alberta out of province inspection completed and a mechanical fitness report. These are literally ready to drive off the lot; all that will be required is the vehicle to be insured.
Edmonton stock benefits Alberta customers as well as customers that would like a car right away in other provinces of Canada.
Japan Stock: All of these vehicles are in Japan and the final price of the car is to Edmonton free and clear from customs, with Alberta out of province inspection and a mechanical fitness report. We can arrange shipping, or you can arrange for your own shipping from Edmonton for non local customers.
Japan stock benefits all residents in Canada. It is especially beneficial for residents outside of Alberta, as they do not need an Alberta out of province inspection. Contact us to see how you can receive even lower pricing!
Sourced to order Vehicle: This option has benefits much like Japan stock. The major advantage to sourcing a vehicle to order is the ability to pick options such as color, amount of kilometres and specification of tune done to the vehicle. See sourcing a vehicle below under purchasing.
How do I purchase a vehicle?
Purchasing a vehicle from our Edmonton stock is similar to buying any other vehicle. Simply pay the amount agreed upon for the vehicle. If you would like to place the car on hold, a deposit would be required that is typically $1,000 dollars. This deposit would secure the car for 5 business days. The deposit would either go towards the final purchase price or is completely refundable.
Purchasing a vehicle from Japan stock requires a $2,000 dollar deposit. The remaining amount would be due upon the vehicles arrival in Edmonton once a mechanical fitness report has been given to the customer. A deposit can also be placed to secure the vehicle while financing or other options is looked into. The deposit works the same as securing a car from Edmonton stock and is completely refundable.
Sourcing a vehicle to order is an excellent option that many of our customers have chosen. After looking at examples of our sold stock and listing exactly what they would like in a car, a budget is devised. A deposit of $2,000 to $4,000 (depending on final cost of the vehicle) is then placed to begin sourcing the car. Once a suitable vehicle is found, numerous high detailed photos are sent to the customer showing the car that was sourced (similar to our stock and sold sections). Another payment of 30%-50% is then paid and the vehicle is shipped to Canada. Upon arriving in Edmonton and receiving the mechanical fitness report the remaining balance is due. If at any point before a vehicle is found, the refund is completely refundable. Contact us if you have any further questions and we will be more then glad to answer them!
What cars can currently be imported?
We can currently import any vehicle that is at least 15 years old. This is made possible due to an obscure 15 year old law from Transport Canada. Currently, many common cars are Skylines, CRX SiRs, Mitsubishi GTOs, Nissan Silvias, Toyota Soarers among many others. Look under importing information coming soon for a complete list of vehicles that can be imported. If you are uncertain about a car, please feel free to ask.
Are parts expensive or hard to get a hold of?
Many of the JDM vehicles that are brought over share numerous parts with vehicles that are already in Canada. While it is difficult to list the amount of compatible parts for each vehicle, feel free to ask and we can provide you with more information for your desired car.
For example, Nissan Skyline's, which were never native to Canada, share a large number of parts with the Nissan 300 ZX. Other cars, such as a Celica GT-4 or Mitsubishi GTO will have almost all parts available in Canada.
Do you offer warranty on your vehicle?
We do not provide a warranty on the cars we supply, simply because it is an extra cost for the customer we'd be adding without the customer necessarily wanting it. Also, it is difficult for a small company to offer warranties to cars that are sold nation wide. For this reason we do the most diligent research to make sure we offer the very best quality. See our section above regarding our high quality.
Do you supply performance parts or have parts installed in Japan?
Racebred Performance has access to numerous aftermarket performance parts that will be coming available on our website shortly. These include tuning parts such as Apexi Power FC as well as cosmetic enhancements to update the image of your vehicle. Additionally, because we have Newera Imports based out of Japan, some of our customers have opted to have their car tuned by a major Japanese tuner, such as HKS.
Is it difficult to insure a JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) Vehicle?
For most insurance companies, insuring a JDM vehicle is no different then insuring any other car. Sometimes the insurance company will want an appraisal done of the car, while others will not require this. We are aware of a number of insurance underwriters that insure JDM vehicles that we can put you in contact with. Insurance rates are typically comparable to a similar vehicle that was originally produced for Canada. The rate you receive will also depend on the company that you insure through and your driving record.
Do you offer financing?
Unfortunately we do not offer financing on our vehicles through Racebred Performance Inc.. Due to the size of our company, we could not offer competitive rates compared with some of the larger firms that do offer financing. We will gladly help with making financing companies aware of the value of these vehicles that will help in securing financing.
